The Institute of Architecture consists ar the moment of 19 chairs which represent architectural education in teaching and research. Internal policies are formed in the Institute Council which is assembled of: 

- 7 professors
- 2 scientific personell
- 2 students
- 2 non scientific personell

and their substitutes. They are elected for 2 years. The Council is headed by the Managing Director or his/her substitute according to the regulations of the Geschäftsordnung des Akademischen Senats [2].

They are supported by an administrative office wich is taking care of the transactions and the administrative processes. 

Rights and obligations of the Institute are organized by the Grundordnung der TU [3]. Rights and obligations of the scientific personell are organized by the Berliner Hochschulgesetz [4] (BerlHG).
