Call for applications

Join the Alliance4Tech Master program to become part of a truly European community of students!

Dear Architecture Students!

We are opening the call for applications for Master students to the newly established Alliance4Tech Master program of the Institute of Architecture. The Alliance4Tech Master program is a joint initiative of  the architecture faculties of TU Berlin, Politecnico di Milano (Polimi) and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (ETSAM).  Together with the M.Sc. Master certificate of TU Berlin you will earn a joint Alliance4Tech Certificate (M.Sc.) of the three partner universities.

Are you interested in:

-  Free mobility between the three partner institutions?
-  The idea of a truely European Campus?
-  Spending a least two semesters abroad in the partner institutions in Milan and Madrid to widen your       academic horizon and to get to know other European cultures?
-  Maybe even writing your Master Thesis with a second advisor from one of the partner universities?
-  Being abroad with an Erasmus+ grant without having to apply for it separately?
-  Becoming part of the growing Alliance4Tech community of students and professors under the guidance of engaged program coordinators?
-  Participating in interesting spring or summer schools together with your fellow A4Tech students?

If your answers were mainly positive and you are curious about finding out more, then don’t hesitate to check the details and apply by December 10, 2022

Prior to the deadline the program directors of the three partner universities will hold an online meeting where there will inform about their faculties and will answer questions of the applicants. The exact date in mid April is yet to be announced.

Alliance4Tech is a strategic partnership established in 2016 between the four funding members of Politecnico di Milano, Technische Universität Berlin, CentraleSupelec Paris, and University College London, joined by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid as associate partner in 2020, committed to the longterm goal of a free and open European Campus.

Black Turtleneck, Round Glasses: Book presentation with Karin Hartmann

Black Turtleneck, Round Glasses
Expanding Planning Culture Perspectives
Oct. 27, 2022, 6 p.m. in the foyer of the Architecture Building

"According to a recent American study, sexism and racism are so widespread in architecture that there is a distaste for these topics within the branch itself. What are the reasons for this exclusionary working culture? Even in Germany, most architecture graduates since the turn of the millennium have been female—but a large number of conventions and assumptions within the discipline make it difficult for women to remain in the profession. As a result, a great deal of highly trained talent is lost. Black Turtleneck, Round Glasses uses an intersectional feminist perspective to examine the structural causes that push women—and anyone else who isn’t a white cis man—out of the field. How can architectural teaching and discourse, as well as the industry’s self-image, become more diverse? Where are the experiences of a pluralistic society missing from the built environment? How can we bring about cultural change in planning and architecture?"

Book presentation with Karin Hartmann
In conversation with Jan Kampshoff, Elke Beyer and other participants of the working group on diversity and equality at the IfA
